JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Director Support Professionals, commonly referred to as DSPs, are crucial to the success of those with disabilities.

During this week, September 13th through the 19th, Direct Support Professionals nationwide are being recognized and are highlighted for their dedication to the profession.

One of the many businesses that rely heavily on DSPs is Triumph, Inc. in Jamestown.

Ann Ede, co-founder of Triumph, says they’re grateful for their more than 45 Direct Support Professionals they have on staff.

She says during National DSP Recognition Week, they hold a spirit week for their staff.

Triumph, Inc. will be changing this to adjust to COVID-19, but will look to celebrate their DSPs in different ways with themed days including pajama day, twinning Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Tie-Dye Thursday, and Friday Night Lights.

Co-founder Jennifer Barnard says they are looking forward to celebrating their DSPs this week.

Ede says community members are encouraged to also thank their local DSPs with what they do, adding that just a compliment on what they’re doing could make all the difference.

Barnard added to that.

When asked what message they would like to give to their DSPs and other DSPs, Barnard had this to say.

Ede added to that saying anyone looking to make a big difference in someone’s life should consider a career as a Direct Support Professional.
