MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals Varsity football team traveled to Nedrose High School in Minot on Saturday night, August 29th for a Class A non-region football game against the Lions of Minot Bishop Ryan. The Lions scored the first six touchdowns of the game and came out on top by the final score of 42-6. Carrington drops to 1-1 overall, RV Bishop Ryan improves to 1-1 overall.
The Lions scored quickly in the first quarter, QB Nick Sanders connected with Jacob Fricke for a 7-yard touchdown pass with a little over three minutes played making the score 6-0, Bram Johannsen kicked in the extra point for the 7-0 lead. Johannsen made six extra point attempts. The Lions had the lead 28-0 at halftime. The Cardinals scored their first touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter with about four minutes left when back-up QB Grady Shipman ran in for a score from 1-yard out on a quarterback sneak.
Next up for Carrington will be on Friday night, September 4th at Stadium 76 in Carrington for a Class A Region 2 match up with Grafton. KDAK and newsdakota.com will have the pregame about 6:30pm, kickoff at 7pm.
