JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota self-response rate for the 2020 Census sits at 63.2 percent as of August 17th with 51.1 percent using the internet to be counted.

According to the North Dakota Census, Burleigh County leads the way for North Dakota counties with 76.9 percent. Morton County is second with 71 percent and Stutsman County just crossed 70 percent self-response.

“The U.S. Census Bureau has begun visiting North Dakota households that have not responded to the 2020 Census,” Mark Dickerson, Media Specialist for North Dakota states in his report. “Nonresponse Followup (NRFU) began on July 20th. That means Census workers are physically visiting non-response households with the intent of getting them to fill out the Census.”

In city response rates, Jamestown has reported 72.3 percent self-response, Valley City reports 70.6 percent, and Carrington reports 73.7 percent.

Households can still respond now by completing and mailing back the paper questionnaire they received, by responding online at 2020census.gov, or by phone at 844-330-2020. Households can also respond online or by phone in one of 13 languages and find assistance in many more.

Those that respond will likely not need to be visited to obtain their census response.
