CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Valley City “Extreme” 16-U fastpitch team took two losses in pool play at the national tournament in Madison, WI, Wednesday.

Valley City was beaten by Greenfield, WI, 6-0 in their first game.  The Extreme were held to just five hits, and stranded six runners in scoring position throughout the game.

In game two, Valley City took an early lead, but was eventually topped by Northern Illinois 11-7.  The Extreme took a 3-0 lead after an inning, but fell behind after a four-run third for the opposition.  Valley City again took the lead 7-5 after four, but five costly errors in the game allowed Northern Illinois to score 11 runs on just five hits.

Pool play ended after two games.  Valley City plays the St. Johns Wild Bunch, the St. Louis-metro champions, at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning in bracketed play.
