NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The opening day of the 2020 District 4 Independent baseball tournament started on Monday with three games, here are the results:
No. 4 Jamestown Blues 11, No. 5 Carrington 0, 4 1/2 innings
In the first game of the day and a single elimination contest, Jamestown pitched a three-hit shutout of the Redbirds and ended their season at 1-9 overall. Carson Orr started and worked three innings, then Brooks Roaldson worked two innings. Max Fronk of Jamestown was 3-for-3 at the plate with two singles, a double and two RBI. Seth Nelson, Ethan Buskness and Jacob Rexin had one hit each for Carrington.
No. 1 Kidder County 12, No. 4 Jamestown Blues 5
The Jamestown Blues (fourth seed) made things interesting for quite a while versus the top seeded Kidder County squad. Jamestown, trailing 5-0 entering the top of the 6th inning scored 5 runs to tie the game up at 5-5. Kidder County responded with 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth & defeated the Blues 12-5. Blake Pfaff had a very solid pitching performance for Kidder County, striking out 10 batters & allowed just 2 walks. Pfaff did not figure in the decision as Ty Biesterfeld picked up the pitching victory in relief, going 1 1/3 innings. Jayden Rath scored 3 times, Parker Hager went 2-4, scored 2 runs, & had a pair of RBI’s. Biesterfeld also went 2-4, scored 1 run, & had an RBI. Tommy Thompson went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI & Jacob Nolan added a hit with 2 RBI for Kidder County. The Blues collected just 2 hits in the game, 1 each from Ashton Stockert & Mac Leatherman. Leatherman finished 1-2, scored 1 run, & was walked once. Stockert finished 1-4 & scored a run. Jamestown’s 5 run sixth inning was aided by 3 Kidder County errors & 2 walks.
No. 3 Nelson County Owls 7, No. 2 Sheyenne-New Rockford 3
Carter Anderson stole the show in the final game of the night. Anderson pitched 6 strong innings picking up the victory on the mound, striking out 5 batters, did not allow any walks, & hit 1 batter. Anderson also went 3-4 at the plate including 3 double, & drove in 5 runs to aid the Owls victor. Jonah Ringstad went 2-4 & scored 2 runs for the Owls. Garrett Haakenson also went 2-4, scored 2 runs. Jake Avden went 2-4 and added an RBI. S-NR was led offensively by Kaden Jensen who scored all 3 of the Black Sox runs, going 3-4 and added 2 stolen bases Nathan Holzwarth went 2-4 with 2 RBI.

2PM – SNR vs. Jamestown (loser out)
35 minutes after – KC vs. NC (semifinal)
35 minutes after – winner of SNR/Jamestown vs. loser of KC/NC (loser out)
