VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Members of the Valley City Police Department and the Barnes County Sheriff’s office were honored for their hard work and dedication protecting the community during a ceremony on Thursday in Valley City.

Spokesman Rockne Earles believes the movement underway to defund police departments is a step in the wrong direction following the death of George Floyd on May 25th in Minneapolis.

Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher said it’s nice to receive community support during this trying time.

The ceremony to honor law enforcement officers was held at the District 24 Republican Headquarters in downtown Valley City on Thursday, July 23rd.
