CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Carrington discussed different ordinances during their regular meeting on July 13th.

Mayor Tom Erdmann says the second reading of Ordinance #270 was to update the city’s ordinance with the new state rules regarding Driving Under the Influence.

The council later discussed a new ordinance that would allow a declaration of Civil Emergency by the Mayor in case of a natural or man made disaster.

Erdmann says this was just a first reading and will welcome further discussion before being looked at again in August.

Another discussion was during committee reports. Erdmann says there have been requests to reopen the armory, but because of current COVID restrictions, they are unable to fulfill that request.

Erdmann also added that the city of Carrington continues to remain among the top when it comes to being counted for the 2020 Census.

Erdmann added that if you don’t want anyone coming to your door to be counted for the Census, complete it online.

In the police department, Erdmann says they’re looking to fill two police positions at this time.

Right now, the tree board is looking at addressing the concerns for Ash trees in Carrington, which face high mortality rates within the next few years.
