CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After serving the Valley City School district for 21 years as a school board member and a number of those as chairwoman Sharon Buhr fought back tears and said goodbye.
Buhr said she was proud to be a part of the school district that is considered one of the best in the state and to have a board and superintendent willing to spend extra time to do the right thing for students and the school district.
Superintendent Dean Koppelman said Buhr served with distinction and went above the call of duty to put in extra hours to serve the school district, students, teachers, staff members and administration officials. Sharon will be missed Koppelman said.
Buhr was defeated by Richard Ross in the June 11th election. Under law a defeated school board member serves until the annual meeting and school board reorganization.
Buhr will continue to represent the school district on the City/County Health board and serve on the Valley City Flood Task Force as a citizen representative.
During the reorganization portion of the new fiscal year meeting board members appointed Joyce Braunagel as president and Mike Callahan as vice president.
