CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)  Valley City Police are investigating a report of assault and vandalism that occurred in the Marketplace Foods Parking lot just before midnight on Saturday. No other details are available.

And a man was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment of injures after he was assaulted at a bar in Fingal Saturday night. The incident is under investigation with the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office.

A lightening strike caused some electrical equipment to start smoking in southeast Valley City last night. Fire crews put out a small fire near an electrical utility. The lightening happened shortly after the city received marble size hail and a light rain shower Sunday night.
