ADA, MN (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City jumped out to an early 7-3 lead in the second inning only to see that lead evaporate into a 10-8 loss to the Ada A’s in amatuer baseball Thursday night in Ada, Minnesota
The Saints scored two in top of the first inning on a double by Sal Avila that scored Reed Butz who reached on a fielder’s choice. Avila would scored later on wild pitch.
The A’s would score three in the bottom of the first. Blake Fetting doubled in Brett Fetting to tie the game at 1. Riley Resnick gave the A’s a lead with a two run single.
The Saints would get the lead back in the top of the second. Reed Butz tied the game with an rbi single that score Ross Powell who walked to start the inning. Carlos Turpo broke the tie with a two run single scoring Jake Miller and Butz. With Jesse Johnson at the plate, Riley Resnick uncorked two wild pitches. The first scored Sal Avila the second scored Carlos Turpo.
The A’s would start the comeback in the bottom of the second when Sunny Resnick scored Beau Fetting with a double.
The Fetting’s would strike again when Blake Fetting drove in Brett Fetting with a single in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Saints lead to 7-5.
Ada broke things open with a five run sixth inning. Sunny Resnick rbi single made it 7-6. Braiden Fetting tied the game at 7 with an rbi ground out. Riley broke the tie with an rbi single. The batter, Chase Buchholz drove in two more with a single to make it 10-7.
JT Reed would score on an error in the top of the eighth to make it 10-8 but the Saints would get no closer.
Reed and Reed Butz had two hits each. Jake Miller, Sal Avila and Carlos Turpo had one each. Turpo drove in two.Butz and Avila both scored twice.
The Saints now 4-8-1, return to Charlie Brown Field on Sunday July 12th when they host the Cass County Catfish at 5pm.
