JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Children 18 years and younger have the option to get free meals all summer in Jamestown.
The Summer Food Service Program, also called the Summer Meals Program, provides free meals to area kids and teens. Lu Morehouse oversees the Stutsman County Extension Office meal site.
There are five locations in Jamestown including the Two Rivers Activity Center, Nickeus Park, and Leapaldt Park which are all hosted by the Jamestown Parks & Recreation Department. The Arts Park is another site the serves meals.
Morehouse says they serve meals from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM Monday through Friday. Because of COVID-19, she says meals will be pick up only.
There is no need to call ahead or make reservations. Morehouse says they’ve also introduce the ability for families to pick up five meals for the week for each child so they don’t need to come each day.
Morehouse says they’ve had a lot of success so far with the program at their site.
Kids from all parts of Stutsman County can receive the meals.
