JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Typically held on the first weekend of June, the annual Running of the Pink event was moved due to COVID-19.
Formed 13 years ago, the event has raised over $150,000 for breast and cervical cancer screenings locally. This money stays local through the Jamestown Regional Medical Center Foundation’s “No Excuses Program” and Women’s Way through Central Valley Health.
Tara Kapp with RM Stoudt says they couldn’t afford to not hold the event for this cause.
With that in mind, Kapp says they have plans to move forward with a July 11th date, but in a virtual twist.
The Running of the Pink will be all virtual this year Kapp added.
“While we’re at the ready to host this year’s event live and in person with social distancing protocols in place, we recognize many of our participants may not be ready or able to gather,” they stated in a release. “However, we also recognize the need for continued support of the fight against breast and cervical cancer through early detection so we’re marching forward with #VirtualROP.”
Kapp says the virtual race will allow participants to do the race at their own speed and time. She says those who don’t want to run or walk the 5k or 10k are also more than welcome to make a donation to their cause.
Dean Haas says all proceeds are donated with Casey Stoudt footing the bill for shirts, trophies, and more.
Those who register can visit stoudtcars.com and choose virtual race. You’re welcome to like Running of the Pink on Facebook and follow them on Instagram too.
