Fargo, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A crowd of around 1,500 people have gathered in Fargo’s Island Park for today’s celebration of George Floyd’s life. The event started at 1 pm in the gazebo area of the park. There is still a number of people streaming into the park area.
Police are present at the park but not in riot gear. It is a very mixed peaceful crowd including children. There has been a lot of clapping and cheering going on in response to the many speakers at the event.
Security has been beefed up in downtown Fargo and Moorhead. Both the Minnesota and North Dakota National Guard are in their respective cities because of online threats of violence earlier this week for tonight.
