CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After some doubt of possibly not having a summer baseball season in North Dakota due to the American Legion cancelling the season because of Covid-19, Carrington and some other Class B teams came together to form independent leagues so baseball could still happen. The Redbirds, a new nickname adopted this summer for Carrington, will play their very first game of the summer season on Friday, June 5th in New Rockford.
Some teams in Class B will be registered under the Senior Babe Ruth league as long as they adhere to the age eligibility requirements (16-19 years old) which allows them to be covered by the Babe Ruth National Organization insurance, but will still be considered an independent league. After Friday’s game, Carrington will be in Jamestown on June 11th and their first home game will be on Monday, June 15th against Kidder County, complete schedule below. KDAK the Cardinal AM 1600/FM 100.1 and newsdakota.com will have coverage of Friday’s game in New Rockford starting about 5:05pm pregame.
