CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State and the Valley City School District will spend about -thousand dollars for a track surface repair at VCSU through their joint powers agreement.

The Valley City School board unanimously approved of the temporary repair at a special school board meeting on Monday night. The $98-thousand dollars will be paid for equally by both entities due to their joint powers agreement.

Superintendent Dean Koppelman says a complete reconstruction of the track maybe needed in 4 years according to a company that specializes in track & field construction.

Koppelman proposed to have the same company do a cost difference study on the VCSU track as well as one at Hanna field.

VCSU Faculty Athletic Representative David Bass says the resurfacing repair work should be done soon before temperatures cool down.

“Upper Midwest Athletic Construction” of Anoka, Minnesota will take soil bore samples at both sites and complete a cost construction study to determine the best location.
