BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – April brought with it a record low number of people flying out of North Dakota airports.
State Aeronautics Commission director Kyle Wanner says that was expected, because of the coronavirus pandemic. He says he’s asked how this compares with what happened after 9-11.
Wanner says there are less flights in and out of the state’s airports. But he says the state is starting to see passenger numbers increase, as things are starting to open back up.
Wanner says airlines are also taking more precautions to keep them clean and sanitized. And he says a number are requiring passengers to wear masks.
The Jamestown Regional Airport reported 41 boarding’s in April 2020 compared to 694 in 2019. For the year so far, Jamestown has reported 2,455 total boardings.
