JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Jamestown Girl Scout has created a project that will make a difference in the community.
Camryn Ripley came up with Jamestown’s first “My Free Little Pantry”, a community box that will be filled with food and household items. The project is part of the requirements to reach the Silver Award in Girl Scouts.
Amber Martin, Camryn’s mom, says they looked at the need for food and household donations in Jamestown as inspiration for the project.
Camryn says the box, which has been placed by Hope Free Lutheran Church, is filled with a variety of items.
Other items include ramen, dried goods, pasta, toothpaste, and more.
Martin added that in order for the project to work, it requires people to not only use it, but contribute to it as well.
And it appears Camryn won’t stop there. Martin stated that they are hoping to create more in the community, but Camryn wanted to start with one first and see how it’s received.
Anyone will be allowed to donate to the box or use it for free.
Wade Spitzer from Spitzer Construction and S&S Cabinets helped fund the first box and AD Drywall helped build, stain, and place the box.
Those who wish to use the box or donate to it can find it in front of New Hope Lutheran Church at 1545 4th Ave NW in Jamestown.
