VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Saturated soil in the region can’t handle rainfall. The Sheyenne River in Valley City increased by more than 2 feet this week due to a rainfall that some say was light to moderate.

Inflows coming into Lake Ashtabula kicked up after the rainfall according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Baldhill Dam Resource Manager Rich Schueneman.

On Monday, May 4th the river level in Valley City was about 8 feet on Thursday, May 7th the river reading was more than 10 feet.
