JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Humane Society has seen a huge spike in adoptions in the past month.

Board member Jay Nitschke reports that currently, the have 4 dogs and about 10 cats that are available to adopt.

Nitschke says a big portion of their recent adoption success is the volunteers and workers who have continued working through the pandemic.

Now with the room left after all the adoptions, Nitschke says they’re turning their focus to the dog kennels. She says they are in dire need of repairs and having more empty kennels will make the work a little easier.

Because the Humane Society has been unable to hold fundraisers recently, Nitschke added that any volunteers or donations would be greatly appreciated for them to afford the cost of kennel repairs.

Nitschke says if you’d like to donate, you can send a check to:

James River Humane Society
Box 636
Jamestown, N.D. 58401

The Humane Society is not open during normal work hours. You’re encouraged to call ahead to schedule a visit at 701-252-0747.
