JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown made the difficult decision earlier this year to close their campuses and adjust to provide education through different means in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
University of Jamestown President Dr. Polly Peterson says they made the decision early on as the virus made it’s way across the U.S. to postpone having students return to campus following Spring break.
Dr. Peterson says this transition was helped by the fact that the University had already begun preparing for more online courses.
Since then, the University has conducted all of their courses online. Dr. Peterson says this created some challenges, but students and faculty were able to adjust as best as possible given the circumstances.
While there have been challenges, Dr. Peterson says there has also been growth. Introducing the ability to do online courses means students will be able to participate in their studies from long-distance.
Dr. Peterson says they will be investing some time and resources this summer to accommodate more social distance learning.
The University of Jamestown will look at hosting their graduation ceremony in the fall during the 2020 Homecoming weekend.
