JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In a sign of solidarity and support, several staff members and clients at the North Dakota State Hospital started decorating windows and sidewalks with messages of encouragement.

Many employees of the hospital were greeted on their way in and out of work Thursday by the sidewalk art. Windows were also decorated with hearts as part of the worldwide A World of Hearts movement.

“These thanks come from the Tompkins residents with the help of their counselor Lori Evjen to show appreciation for everything you do each and every day, and most especially in the face of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic,” Hospital Administrator Tonya Perkins said. “We are so thankful for the work that our employees at NDSH are doing preparing for this pandemic. And we would love for the rest of the community to see it as well.”

Lori Evjen says it started with the hearts on windows on the buildings across the campus.

Dan Everson, Human Relations Counselor at the Hospital, added that the “art” has spread to other buildings on the campus.

Evjen added that it’s really helped reduce some stress for the employees and clients too.
