JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department was called to an apartment building just before 8:30 AM Friday for a small kitchen fire in Southwest Jamestown.

Officials report that the resident of the apartment set groceries on the counter and activated the toaster, leading to light fire damage and moderate smoke damage. The smoke alarm in the building alerted other residents and the occupant extinguished the fire.

Five city fire units and 22 firefighters were on scene about 30 minutes.
