JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A University of Jamestown professor is studying the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on information technology, or IT.
Jakob Barnard, professor in the Department of Computer Science & Technology, says while it seems almost ironic that a “virus” is affecting technology, it seems to be the same for everyone.
Barnard says as teachers and students continue acclimate to online courses, he says the major hurdle is adjusting to the mindset online learning and teaching.
Barnard says he is currently studying the effect COVID-19 is having on other forms of IT, which includes telecommuting and cloud services. He hopes the data he collects will help the University, but will also be used for his dissertation.
He added that there could be some positives that come from the virus such as job availability for someone working from home.
