JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger reported that all playground equipment and infrastructure at Jamestown Parks would be closed to the public in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Edinger says the decision comes from the Jamestown Parks & Recreation Department.
Chief Edinger says people are still encouraged to use parks, trails and open spaces while maintaining social distancing.
In the department, Chief Edinger says they are trying to operate by phone as much as possible. As far as calls for service, he added that they are way down for the first quarter of 2020.
Edinger says there have been complains of bars serving, which goes against Governor Doug Burgum’s executive order. He says these have been investigated and says that serving in the bars is not allowed right now.
He added that those with complaints or questions should call the Police Department as the office remains closed.
With the pandemic comes the rise of scams.
Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says they are also dealing with scams.
Kaiser says their offices are also closed, but will accept phone calls as they are staffed.
The Jamestown Police Department contact information is 701-252-2414 or dispatch at 701-252-1000 for non-emergencies. Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office can be contacted at 701-251-6200.
