JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown United Way has found a safe and fun way to celebrate Easter in the community this year.

With the COVID-19 outbreak, many events have been postponed and cancelled, including the annual Jamestown Parks & Rec Easter Egg Hunt. Members of the Jamestown United Way saw this and came up with an idea to still hold an Easter Egg hunt while maintaining social distance.

United Way member Kayla Trzpuc says the organization will be taking “orders” from those who wish to have eggs hidden in their yard. Then on Saturday, April 11th, those eggs will be hidden for kids to find the next morning.

Jamestown Parks & Rec announced that they have used donations from the Elks Club to purchase candy and eggs, which were then donated to the Jamestown United Way for the event.

Trzpuc added that they have also been receiving interest in a “pay it forward” option for those who wish to host an egg hunt in someone else’s yard.

Trzpuc says eggs will be packed separately and with latex gloves. They’ll then be delivered and hidden by one or two people to help maintain social distancing.

She says support for the event has been huge and they continue to get more and more sponsors.

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the United Way of Stutsman County as 99% of funds stay in Stutsman County.

If you’re interested, you can contact Jamestown United Way at 701-952-8929 or email jmstuway@gmail.com. Deadline to register for the event is April 8th.
