JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – “If you ever need a problem solved, put a few teachers together in a room. They’ll figure it out real quick.”
That’s what Jamestown Public School Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech says. After being announced that schools statewide would be closing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Lech says it really became a whirlwind for him and his staff. Now with school postponed indefinitely, leaders were challenged to come up with a plan to provide education for their students beginning April 1st.
Dr Lech says to initiate this, they mobilized their teachers into groups including an elearning group.
With their sights set on Monday, March 23rd to implement their online courses, Dr. Lech says they understand with it being a new system that they’ll have a few kinks here and there to workout. He says he’s confident they’ll continue to refine those as they move forward.
Dr. Lech stated that working this past week on this plan has been “inspiring.”
Along with the statewide school closures, there was concerns for students around North Dakota with receiving their usual meals through the schools. Dr. Lech says they will continue to provide breakfast and lunch for those who call ahead.
