CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Carrington Mayor Tom Erdmann says they’re taking some steps in the community to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Mayor Erdmann says their decisions follow Governor Doug Burgum’s announcement that they would be closing K-12 schools in North Dakota this week. The first local closure following suit was the Carrington Armory.

Erdmann says the library is still open during regular hours, but some events have already been cancelled for safety reasons.

When it comes to city hall, Erdmann says they’re full staffed and will stay that way. He says if it comes to time off with daycare issues or sickness, they have a policy in place for that.

Mayor Erdmann says they’re focusing on creating less traffic in City Hall to prevent any spread of the disease. City Public Works is also continuing to work, but have the same policies in place for sick leave.

Carrington Police Department also continues to operate. Erdmann just added that limiting traffic where possible is the best course of action.
