JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the third year, the Jamestown Police Department will be hosting their Citizens Academy from March 26th through May 28th.
The free academy gives the public a chance to view different aspects of a police officers job, learn about different topics, and ask questions they’ve always had about police and their jobs.
Jamestown Police Corporal Andrew Staska says topics ranging from DUI laws, use of force, criminal investigations, traffic stops, and more will be covered from a local perspective.
Participants will also be offered ride alongs and more.
Staska added that while it’s called an academy, there’s no testing or credits included that would allow someone to further a potential career in law enforcement.
Interested individuals can register for the Citizens Academy by March 20th.
The academy is free and open to anyone interested. They will meet every Thursday from 6 PM to 9 PM inside the Stutsman County Law Enforcement Center.
