JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Humane Society has operated as a non-profit, no-kill shelter for 35 years in Jamestown, giving animals a second chance at finding a forever home.
In 2019, they reported over 250 cats and dogs were given a new home through the shelter.
James River Humane Society Board Member Jay Nitchke says with cats, they were able to take in many from the area and different parts of the state.
Nitchke added that they were able to give more than 140 dogs a new home in 2019 as well.
She pointed out that all of these adopted and shelter animals would otherwise still be homeless and have nowhere to go.
Nitchke also added that March is spay and neuter your pets month and several area vets are offering discount specials.
There will be a potato bar fundraiser for the Humane Society on March 19th at the KC Hall from 5 PM to 6:30 PM with all proceeds helping the James River Humane Society with upkeep, maintenance, and projects.
The James River Humane Society is located off I-94 Exit 262 East of Jamestown. Visit jamesriverhumanesocity.org for more information.
