JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown and community will get another shot to host the NAIA Women’s Wrestling National Invitational this year.

The invitational is scheduled for March 13th and 14th. This will also be the second year of invitational status for NAIA Women’s Wrestling.

University of Jamestown Athletics Director Sean Johnson says it’s a big deal for Jamestown to be the site for this national competition.

While last years event was cut short due to an untimely snowstorm, Johnson says they’re ready to go for the second year of the tournament.

He added that they’ve set their sights set on becoming the permanent destination for the event.

Johnson says the best way to make Jamestown the primary location for the event? Participation.

More than 20 teams are expected from across the U.S. to compete in the tournament, which will also act as an Olympic qualifier. The invitational will be held at the Harold Newman Arena both days, cost of entry for those 14 years of age and up is $5 per session or $15 for a weekend pass.
