JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High Gymnastics team picked up the highest score in program history as they finished second in the state during the state meet at Dickinson on Friday. They pulled in a team score of 145.1 and their first state runner-up finish since 1971.
The Jays won back-to-back titles in 1969 and 1970. Dickinson came in with a score of 148.9 for their fifth straight state championship.
Jamestown finished second behind Dickinson on all four rotations. Rachel Schiele was the Jays top scorer on two of the four rotations (beam and vault) with Haley Nelson grabbing the top spot on the other two (bars and floor).
Schiele posted an overall score of 37.217 and Nelson finished at 36.867
Julia Skari posted a 36.2. Emma Hillerud with a 34.467.
