The Carrington Cardinals put 7 wrestlers on the awards podium Saturday afternoon at the Fargodome high lighted by Michael Clifton and Treston Lura’s runner up finishes. Both Clifton (170 sophomore) and Lura (113 junior) finished the season 51-7 overall. Clifton lost a hard fought 5-0 decision to now 4 time state champion Garrett Jangula of Napoleon-GS. Lura’s loss might sting a bit more, building a 6-2 lead , Peyton Tuhy of Hettinger caught Lura in a pinning combination to end the match late in the second period. Other Cardinal placers included 120 pounder Matthew Duchscherer and 160 pounder Tate Hoggarth both finishing in third place. Colton Buskness (220), was seeded 6th and finished in fourth place. Brecken Lura (132) finished in 5th place and Beau Retzlaff (195) finished in 6th place.
Lisbon won the team title and the dual crown as well over the weekend and South Border finished in second place in both.
