JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Humane Society is home to many lost, abandoned, and homeless pets in the area.
They’re also working to be lifesavers of a special dog.
Liberty received his name because he had run out of time and was about to be put down because the space he was in had no more room.
Jay Nitchke is a board member with the James River Humane Society.
Nitchke says that’s when they stepped in and brought Liberty to their shelter. She says when Liberty came to them, they discovered he had developed a very serious health condition.
Casselton Veterinary Service has stepped up and says they’ll be conducting the surgery, which is expected to be more than $2000. Nitchke says being a non-profit, it’s an expense they’ll need help with.
Liberty’s surgery is scheduled for March 12th and right now, the Humane Society is raising money to pay for it. Nitchke says the surgery is risky, but Liberty deserves a right to a long, happy life.
Those who are interested in helping Liberty can write a check to Box 636 Jamestown, ND or click here to make a donation on Facebook.
