DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Devils Lake used an 12-0 run late in the game to pullk away from Valley City on the way to a 66-52 win over the Hi-Liners in boys basketball Monday Night in Devils Lake.
Devils Lake scored the first six points of the game but could not get any further ahead until the scored the last seven points of the first half for a 32-23 lead. Michael Widmer scored 17 points in the first half. Grant Nelson, who leads the Eastern Dakota Conference in scoring with a 27.3 ppg average, was held to 10 points in the first half and finished with 21 points. Widmer ended with 22. Kyler Longie was also in double figures with 10 points, all coming in the second half.
Peyton Zaun led the Hi-Liners with 15 points. Jared Eggermont added 12 points and Alex Thornton chipped in 10 points.
Valley City falls to 1-8 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 2-9 overall. Devils Lake is 5-3 in the EDC and 5-4 overall.
