JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – When the Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) was proposed, there were other projects they had hoped to accomplish.
With TRAC finished and operating, they’ve moved their focus to Phase II, which includes building an outdoor splash park.
TRAC Facilities Manager Amy Walters says they’re currently two-thirds of the way to their 3 million dollar goal and intend to begin construction as soon as that goal is met.
Funded entirely by donations and grants, Walters says a generous donation by longtime resident Shirley Rolfs Meidinger really jumpstarted the fundraising campaign.
The site for the Shirley R. Meidinger will include a bath house, water features to include three elevated activity stations with four slides, multiple fountains, and splash zones.
Walters says there will be plenty of space for future construction, including an outdoor pool. She says at this time, it was determined that a splash park would be more fiscally manageable at this time for TRAC.
Walters pointed out that the project was being funded strictly by grants and fundraiser, while the 1% sales tax continues to go towards the cost of construction.
The overall goal for TRAC is to complete fundraiser and break ground this summer. She says they’re around $300,000 to $400,000 left in order to reach that milestone.
A FAQ is available on the project at tracjamestown.com as well as other information including specifications and renderings of the park. If you’re interested in making a donation or about the project, you’re invited to call Amy Walters at 701-952-8722 or click here.
