JAMESTOWN, N.D. (newsDakota.com) – The first ever Discovery Day was held in Jamestown on Saturday, January 4th.
Discovery Days were formed to get families involved with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM), which is an approach to teaching and learning through the arts.
Susan Schauer is with the group trying to create a permanent space for similar events in the future. She says the days feature a variety of STEAM related activities.
Right now, Discovery Days are being held at businesses in Jamestown that also feature STEAM careers with the first one being held at Stutsman Harley Davidson. Future days are planned at Liechty Homes and the Jamestown Arts Center.
Schauer says more could be created if the interest remains high enough.
Susan’s son Jack has participated in these sorts of events before and says they are good for kids to learn more about STEAM.
All families and all ages are encouraged to join in future Discovery Days. The cost to attend is $5 per person or $20 per family.
