JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The first games of the new year featured a doubleheader at Wilson Arena Saturday afternoon and evening.
Boys: Minot 6, Jamestown 5
Jamestown’s last game before the holiday break was a 3-2 win over Minot. The Jays fell behind 2-0 in that game and fell behind 2-0 again Saturday. Unlike the December game, Jamestown didn’t end up with a win.
Jayden Luck turned in a hat trick to propel the Minot Magicians to a offense heavy victory. Zachary Diehl added a couple goals and an assist as well.
Jamestown’s Nolan Nenow added two goals to his team high eight on the season.
Next time out for the Jays is Friday at home against Bottineau.
Girls: Fargo Davies 8, Jamestown 0
Friday night’s loss ended the Jays two game winning streak and saw the Jays get shutout for the first time this season.
Fargo Davies was relentless from the start of the game. Just over a minute into the game, Davies struck first with a Paige Hanson goal. Six different players wound up with a goal and Sage Kracke scored twice.
Jamestown goalie Jada Nelson was tested often. After allowing two early goals in the first, Nelson did a great job to hold Davies scoreless the rest of the period while facing a heavy dosage of shots on net.
The Jays will try to start a new winning streak Thursday at home against Mandan.
