Kent Syverson, 65, Valley City, North Dakota passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at CHI Mercy Health, Valley City, ND.
Kent Dale Syverson was born on January 25, 1954 at Jamestown Hospital to Melvin and Edith (Cloke) Syverson. He was the youngest of his four siblings, Jerry, James, and Joan. Kent suffered a stroke at the age of six months. He loved life on the farm and the outdoors.
In 1969, he enrolled and lived at Grafton State School, Grafton, ND until 1989. Kent then moved to Open Door Center Group Home Five in Valley City. This became his home and second family for the next thirty years.
Kent loved spending time outside watching the traffic, and looking at the machinery. He especially loved being with his family spending time eating out, shopping, holidays and vacations. In Valley City, he especially enjoyed time spent with his family and friends eating out at Burger King and Taco Johns. He especially loved his diet coke, coffee, and collecting watches.
Kent touched many lives throughout his sixty five years.
The funeral service will be 10:30 am, Friday, January 3 at Faith Lutheran Church Valley City, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgley, North Dakota.
Memorials may be directed to the Open Door Center Valley City in Kent’s honor.

Kent is survived by brothers; Jerry (Susan) Syverson, Jamestown, ND and James Syverson, Havre, MT; a sister, Joan (Raymond)Klein, Belle Fourche, SD; many nieces and nephews; and his friends at the Open Door Center.
