JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A new series of events in Jamestown called “Discovery Days” will be encouraging families to get involved with STEAM activity.
STEAM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, is an approach to teaching and learning through the arts.
Susan Schauer says she started the Discovery Days with the hopes of creating a permanent location for STEAM events.
Schauer says Discovery Days are sort of an outreach for the city to see what these events would look like and try them.
Several of these Discovery Days have already been set including the first one on January 4th at Stutsman Harley Davidson from 1 to 5 PM.
During the event, families will experience exploration and discovery. This includes building and launching rockets, testing paper airplane skills, racing LEGO vehicles, and more.
Schauer says if these events are successful, it’ll reinforce their idea of creating a permanent space for continued events.
All Discovery Day events cost $5 per person or $20 per family.
