JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council met as a committee Tuesday to consider payment for a project special assessment on the Frontier Village Road, as well as appropriating money to hire assistance for Frontier Village Inventory.

The city’s Finance and Legal Committee approved $119,213 to be paid from the Special Assessment Deficiency Fund for a special assessment for city-owned parcels on Frontier Village Road. The property previously had 2 lessees, the Frontier Village Association and the North Dakota Buffalo Foundation. Now, only one occupies the space. As the city assumed the FVA and its space, the city is paying its share for the assessment.

Councilmember Pam Phillips says the city will start cracking down.

The Civic Center & Promotion Committee also recommended the authorization of a match to a Cultural Heritage Grant to hire staff to assist with artifacts at the Frontier Village.

Searle Swedlund is the Director of Jamestown Tourism. He says they will be seeking college students and recent graduate with this interest to fill the positions.
