JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 2019 Girls Stutsman County Basketball Tournament concluded Saturday night from the Jamestown Civic Center.

Here are the results from the four games:

7th Place Game: Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 54, Warwick 43

Both teams entered the 7th place game without a win. NGS came out with their first victory of the season.

Warwick lead by two after the first quarter but NGS held Warwick to single digit points in both the second and third quarters to open up a 21 point lead in the 4th quarter. Warwick put together an 11-0 run towards the end of the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors fell to 0-6 and finished 8th in the Stutsman County tournament.

NGS’ Teagan Erbele scored a game high 16 points on 6-15 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds. Warwick’s scoring leader was Trina Hunt with 13 points.

5th Place Game: Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 40, South Border 34 (OT)

The 5th place game took an extra four minutes to decide. EKM was up three before South Border’s Hannah Vangorkom hit a game tying three with seconds left to send the game to overtime.

EKM went on an 8-2 run in the overtime period to secure a six point win. It was an inept offensive performance on both sides. EKM put up single digits in three of the four quarters while South Border put up two single digits in the first four.

The Rebels were led by Jocelynn Madcke who finished with 14 points with nine makes at the free throw line. South Border’s leading scorer, and only player with double digit points, was Vangorkom with 10.

3rd place game: Midkota 39  Ellendale 35

In another close game featuring six ties and six lead changes, Hunter Petersen had 13 points, four steals, four rebounds and two assists to help the Mustangs beat the Cardinals to take home third place and improve to 3-3 overall. Nicole Beckley added nine points and 10 rebounds and Brenna Anderson had nine points as well. Jada Henningsen had 11 points for Ellendale, including three treys, Ellendale drops to 3-2 overall.

Championship: Carrington 63  Medina/Pingree/Buchanan 40

For the second year in a row, the Cardinals and Thunder met in the Stutsman championship. After a tight first quarter, Carrington dropped in 19 points in the second quarter and led 31-16 at halftime. MPB came out strong in the third quarter going on a 6-0 run, but the Cardinals couldn’t miss their 3-point attempts in the second half and win the championship for the second year in a row. Carrington had 10 treys in the game, seven in the second half. Leading the way for Carrington was Kiera Eli with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, Sydnie Grager added 13 and Tessa Page hit three 3-pointers. MPB was led by Ryleigh Martin with 13 and Megan Moser with 12. The Cardinals are now 4-0 overall, MPB drops to 3-1 overall. Carrington has won the Stutsman championship five out of the last seven years, including the last two in a row.
