Orville “Dale” Repko, Jamestown, North Dakota passed away November 8, 2019 at Ave Maria Village.
Dale was born on June 26, 1928 in Jamestown, ND, son of John and Thelma (DuVall) Repko. Immediately upon graduation from Jamestown High School in 1944, he enrolled in the US Navy. He served 2 years as a Navy Radioman during WWII and an addition 6 years as a Naval Reservist. He then worked for Standard Oil for a few years, before working for Farm Oyl Company. He traveled western North Dakota as a salesman until his retirement after 38 years.
Dale enjoyed the outdoors, spending as much time as he could hunting and camping. He particularly loved the mountains and spent many summer vacations with his family traveling and exploring the outdoors of the western United States.
After retirement, Dale continued to camp and was a Hospice Volunteer, drove transit vans, would drive friends and acquaintances to/from medical appointments, and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a lifelong member of the Elks and American Legion.
Dale was a caring, loving and outgoing person and made it a point to meet and know as many people as he could. He made friends easily and within minutes folks would feel as though they had known each other their entire lives. When camping he would often make the rounds and get to know all of the camping neighbors by name within hours of setting up camp. Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandpa and would spend as much time as he could sharing his love to each of them. With his last words he said how lucky he was to be part of this family.
Dale is survived by his wife Norma, 5 children: Sandi (Jerry) Bettenhausen, Wichita Falls, TX; Peggy Klingenberg, Eden Prairie, MN; Karen Hystad, Watertown, SD, ; Keith (Tammie) Repko, St. Louis, MO, and Kathy (Dale) Heckendorf, Marysville, WA; 1 brother: Denny (Carolyn) Repko, Pasadena, CA; 2 foster brothers: Augie (Jan) Novotny, Grand Forks, ND; Frank (Annette) Novotny, Tacoma, WA; 1 foster sister: Dellamae (Warren) Richards; 9 grandchildren: Sara (Clay) Hundley, Beth (James) Woldert, Alyssa (Tom) McGuire, Britta (John) Lee, Dacia (Cody) House, Anna Repko, Kaila Heckendorf, Katie Repko, and Nathan Heckendorf; and 5 great grandchildren: Noah & Kate Hundley, Freeman & Hudson Woldert, and Olivia McGuire.
