JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown organizations, athletes, and more joined together for a unique trick-or-treating event.

On Tuesday, October 29th, 127 students volunteered their time to go door to door in Jamestown to collect non-perishable food items that would be donated to local food pantries.

Trick-or-Can has been held annually around Halloween and is a fun competition for students.

“11 teams participated,” UJ Student Senator Jacob Just reports. “2,681 items were donated. We doubled our total from last year.”

Teams consisting of Football, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, Nursing Student Association, Student Senate, Golf, Women’s Wrestling, Track & Field and other students joined the friendly competition to raise the most.

Just stated that the Nursing Student Association had the largest amount collected per person at 57 cans per person. The Softball team collected the most cans with 529.
