JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – The University of Jamestown offense compiled a season-high 372 yards, but couldn’t stop a potent Midland University offense in a 41-14 defeat Saturday afternoon at Taylor Stadium.

Quarterback Jordan Mann (SR/Bismarck, N.D.) completed 16 of 28 passes for a season-high 222 yards and a touchdown, Marcus Giles (SO/Blaine, Minn.) ran for one score and caught a pass for another, and wide receiver Garrett Mitchell (SO/Shakopee, Minn.) caught seven passes for a career-high 135 yards.

The Jimmies started the game off in a positive fashion by driving 61 yards in eight plays, but lost a fumble at the Midland 14-yard line.

The Warriors led the Jimmies 14-0 at the end of the first quarter, but Mann connected with Mitchell for 59 yards to the Midland 16-yard line on the first play of the second quarter. The Jimmies converted on 4th and one from the Midland 7-yard line on a run by Tanner Mathern (JR/Edgeley, N.D.) to the 6-yard line and Giles scored on an end around on the next play to cut the lead to 14-7.

Midland responded with a 4-play, 85-yard touchdown drive to grab a 21-7 halftime lead.

The Warriors open the second half with a touchdown drive to grab a 28-7 lead, but the Jimmies responded with a 6-play, 69-yard drive to close the gap to 28-14.

The Jimmie offense converted on three consecutive 3rd down chances and capped the drive with a 47 yard touchdown pass from Mann to Giles with 7:14 left in the 3rd quarter.

But Midland again answered a Jimmie score with one of their own on the very next drive and scored the only points of the 4th quarter with a touchdown pass with 43 seconds remaining.

The Jimmie offense converted 7-of-15 3rd down opportunities, but turned the ball over three times.

Mann finished the game with 268 yards of total offense, Mathern led the Jimmies in rushing with 62 yards on 13 carries, and safety Aundre Purnell (SR/Garden Grove, Calif.) led the Jimmie defense with eight total tackles.

The Jimmies are now 1-8 on the season and 1-6 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and are off next week before returning to action November 9th at Dakota Wesleyan.
