CASSELTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Junior QB Johnny Grann threw six touchdowns and ran for another as the Rockets of New Rockford/Sheyenne roll past the Tigers of Tri-State (Fairmount, North Dakota; Campbell-Tintah, Minnesota; Rosholt, South Dakota) on Saturday afternoon 60-14 in the first round of the 9-man playoffs. No. 2 NR-S improves to 8-1 overall, Tri-State ends their season at 5-4 overall.

The Tigers took the lead 8-6 with a little over three minutes played in the first quarter, but out of the next nine touchdowns, the Rockets had eight of them. Grann was 15 of 17 passing, for 256 yards and six TD’s, he rushed six times for 32 yards and one touchdown. Senior Wide Receiver Bo Belquist caught nine passes for 143 yards and four TD’s, carried the ball seven times for 78 yards and a touchdown. Senior running back Hunter Thompson carried the ball 25 times for 140 yards and one TD. The game was to be played in New Rockford, but poor/wet field conditions in New Rockford forced the game to the turf at Central Cass High School in Casselton.
