JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown students will be going door to door in Jamestown on Tuesday collecting non-perishable food donations.

The annual University of Jamestown Trick-or-Can challenges different student groups to collect the most food donations with everything going towards local food pantries. UJ Student Senator Jacob Just says it’s a friendly competition with a great goal.

Just says the annual event is a fun twist on the Halloween tradition of trick-or-treating and comes at a vital time of the year.

Several groups are expected to participate and collect the most for “bragging rights.”

Just says residents can expect a student group to come to their door between 6 PM and 9 PM Tuesday evening. He asks that people have some non-perishable food ready to go, but if they won’t be home that evening, they can leave a donation on their doorstep with a note specifying that it’s for Trick-or Can.

All items collected will be taken back to campus, counted up, and donated to various food pantries in Jamestown.
