JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission held a special meeting Thursday to discuss damage assessment for roads.

Due to the recent disaster declaration, the county and townships will need to conduct a damage assessment for their roads by November 8th. Due to FEMA increasing requirements for damage assessments, the commission will be contracting with Interstate Engineering for a complete assessment of county roads.

“Since accuracy and time is of the essence, the Commission is willing to include township roads as part of their contract,” Stutsman County Auditor Nicole Meland reports.

“The commission approved to allow townships to participate in our contract with Interstate Engineering and we would charge townships back on a pro rata share based on number of roads assessed.”

A special meeting will be held on Monday, October 28th at 10:00 AM at the Stutsman County Extension Office to discuss these damage assessments.

“Any townships wanting to participate in the County contract should bring a copy of their township road map indicating areas needing assessment. Townships may complete their own assessments or contract with an entity of their choice; however, the assessments need to be completed by November 8.”
