Milnor, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Lisbon Broncos Football team got a win on a day where the team did not play particularly well. But credit also has to be given to the defense of the Sargent County Bulldogs. Who shutdown one of the most potent rushing attacks in North Dakota Class A football for almost 3 quarters..
The first score of the game belonged to the Bulldogs. They executed a long half-back option pass that was completed to #24 Matthew Asche. Asche was tackled at the 4 yard line. #31 Micah Anderson was able to run it in for a TD with 4:27 left in the 1st quarter. The Bulldogs 2 pt. conversion failed. Bulldogs led 6-0.
The Bulldogs (2-5) held Lisbon scoreless until late in the 3rd quarter. The Broncos had to turn to their seldom used passing attack. The Broncos got their lone TD on a 39 yard TD pass to #7 Kolby Rasmusson with 1:41 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The difference in the game was decided on the next play. #12 Hunter Schultz ran in the 2 pt. conversion. Broncos win 8 to 6.
Round 1 of the playoff start this coming Saturday 10-26. Lisbon will be the #1 seed in region 1. They will play the #4 seed in region 2 Grafton. The game will be played in Lisbon. There are two things left to be decided for Lisbon. What will the state set as the start time for their first round game. And what seed will the Broncos be for the tournament overall. Right now the Broncos are #2. But Langdon Area is right behind them at #3 and could overtake them in the QRF point system. That will be decided Monday.
