JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), nearly 3.3 million dogs enter shelters every year.
During the month of October, individuals looking to give dogs a new home are encouraged to adopt from their local shelter. Jay Nitchke is a board member for the James River Humane Society.
Nitchke says they have some adoptions pending, but encourage you to stop at the shelter to visit with them and the adoptable dogs and puppies.
Operating as a non-profit, the shelter is constantly accepting monetary or needed item donations. Nitchke says they have a major need right now.
Nitchke says right now, dealerships in Jamestown are competing to collect the most donated items that will subsequently be donated to the humane society.
