JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Gina Roach saw a need for a support group in Jamestown for parents and those who have lost a child.
The Jamestown Child Loss Grief Support Group was created by Roach after she experienced her own loss.
Roach stated that the TEARS Foundation seeks to compassionately life a financial burden for families who have lost a child by providing funds to assist with the cost of burial or cremation services.
“We believe that every child’s life deserves to be honored and memorialized in accordance with the grieving parents’ wishes and are committed to helping bereaved parents with this experience,” the organization states. “Every grieving parent deserves access to ongoing bereavement support, so we also offer parents comprehensive bereavement care in the form of grief support groups and peer companions.”
Roach says she teamed up with the TEARS Foundation to increase their support area.
The TEARS Foundation in Jamestown is a first-step for Roach, who says her next goal is to expand into the outlying areas so they too can have the support.
The Jamestown Child Loss Grief Support Group meets the first Monday of the month at New Hope Free Lutheran Church in Jamestown at 6 PM. Roach says families, parents, and others are free to join to support one another and meet others who have experienced child loss.
